Situation
Following disciplinary action, an employee began expressing hostility toward management and repeatedly claimed leadership was unfairly targeting him. Coworkers later reported statements suggesting retaliation against supervisors.

SafeHaven conducted interviews with supervisors and coworkers and reviewed internal communications. Indicators included escalating grievance narratives, increasing isolation from coworkers, hostile statements directed at leadership, and growing resentment over perceived injustice.

Observed behaviors suggested movement through several pathway stages including grievance over perceived unfair treatment, ideation involving retaliation statements, and research or fixation on supervisors.

The employee displayed characteristics leaning toward “Hunter” behavior due to persistent grievance fixation and rumination on retaliation.

Management Recommendations
SafeHaven Behavioral Threat Experts supported the employer with careful documentation for both human resources and potential legal needs, carefully led the employer in conducting a “high-risk termination”, and other tradecraft de-escalation and protective measures. 

Outcome
The employee was terminated under controlled conditions. Although the individual made hostile online comments afterward, no further escalation occurred. The situation continues to be monitored for a variety of reasons.
